Edythe Olsen Dockens, 65, of Joaquin, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at her home. She was born July 9, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Russell Olsen and Doris Lindquist Olsen. Edythe was a life time member of the Old Spanish Trail Ride. She was also a member of the Joaquin First United Methodist Church and the Shelby County Go Texas Committee.
Visitation was held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, January 18, 2008 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Watson and Sons Chapel in Center with Rev. Randy Smith and Rev. Darrell McSwain officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 21, 2008 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs, Texas.
Survivors include daughter, Debbie Leigh Dockens-Barnard of Nevada, Texas; two granddaughters, Loren and Bailey; step-daughter, Barbara Gene Surrette of Houston, Texas; brother, Robert Olsen of Spring, Texas; sister, Faith Barton and husband Clay of Kerrville. Also a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Preceded in death by: Husband, Leon Dockens, Parents, Russell Olsen and Doris Lindquist Olsen, sister, Louise Shumann, brother, Norman Olsen.
