On October 13, 2005, Kathy John passed away due to pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
She was born August 12, 1934, in Brubank and has lived in Carlsbad for the past 27 years. Kathy enjoyed her work as a preschool teacher in the local area for many years. Kathy and her husband Stan traveled extensively around the world making many friends along the way. In her travels Kathy enjoyed the search for interesting and unique Matryoshka dolls and thimbles. She was a member of TCSD, SCTC and TCI Thimble collecting clubs.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Stan John; her daughter and son-in-law Laura and Gary Pringle of Connecticut; her daughter Sharon John and her husband Richard Smith and two grandchildren, Tyler and Loren of Poway; her daughter Robin Cady of Vista; her brother and sister-in-law Helen and Grant Frezieres; sister-in-law Kay John; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy's cremains will be flown over Ponto Beach in Carlsbad by a 1929 Fokker biplane and spread at sea on Wednesday, October 19 at 11:30 a.m.
