"The above picture, taken some time since (13 Mar 1903 this photo was in Dispatch). It shows five generations of the late John Flick's family – Mr. Flick, Mrs. Almon Eastman, Mrs. E.D. Warner, J.A. Warner and child."
"John Flick died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Almon Eastman, in this township Monday afternoon. Six years ago he fell on the ice and dislocated his hip which left him a cripple. For a year past he had suffered from a complication of diseases. The deceased was born in Redstone, Pa., June 4, 1814, and in consequence was in the 91st year of his age. He came to this county when 16 years old and had ever since lived in this vicinity. He was married twice his first wife dying 30 years ago and his second five year since. When a young man he learned shoe making and later took up carpentering. He was one of the first members of the Dean Hill church, joining when he was 20 years of age. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Eastman, 20 grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon. Burial in Dean Hill cemetery."

"OLD RESIDENT - PASSED AWAY - John Flick Who Has Lived In Mahoning County 80 Years, Died Monday At Home Of His Daughter. WAS CARPENTER AND FARMER He Was Born in Pennsylvania But He Came to Ellsworth When 10 years of Age – Funeral Will Be Held Thursday Afternoon"
"John Flick, one of the oldest residents of Canfield township, died Monday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Almon Eastman of Canfield. He had been ill for the past year with a complication of disease, in which during this time he had not left the house in six months. Mr. Flick was born in Redstone Fayette County Pennsylvania, June 4, 1814, and is consequently 90 years, nine months and two days of age. He came to Ellsworth township when he was 10 years of age, and resided in Canfield a number of years before the war. When very young he engaged in the farming and carpentering business, and with Almon Eastman in saw mill work. He was married twice his first wife dying 30 years ago, and his second about four years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, Mrs. Almon Eastman, also a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. The funeral will be held form the home of Mrs. Eastman Thursday at 1 o'clock with interment in Dean's cemetery."
