Adrian, CANTON HERALD, July 7, 1933: The ranks of the pioneer citizens of Van Zandt county were thinned Saturday, when Buchannan Breckenridge Adrian, 76, a resident of Ben Wheeler, passed away. Funeral services for the deceased were held at the Prairie Springs cemetery near Ben Wheeler 9:30 Sunday morning. Rev. Major Brown of Murchison and the members of the Pine Hill Masonic Lodge of Ben Wheeler had charge of the rites at the cemetery. B.B. Adrian was the son of John David German Adrian, a man who distinguished himself in the Civil War. B.B. Adrian was born in Smith county, east of Edom, Texas, but at an early age moved into Van Zandt County. He was a member of the Methodist church and of the Ben Wheeler Masonic Lodge. B.B. Adrian is survived by his wife, five children and one brother. The children are: A.F. Adrian, Grand Saline; C.C. Adrian, Athens; Mrs. A.C. Shivers, Grand Saline; Mrs. J.J. Colley, Ben Wheeler; Mrs. Otto Huddle, Goose Creek; K.L.M. Adrian, Ben Wheeler, is the only surviving brother. A large group of friends from Grand Saline, Ben Wheeler, and other parts of the country were present Sunday morning to pay their last respects to this highly esteemed citizen. Grand Saline Sun.

Buchannan's father, John David German Adrian (Adrain)married Sarah McDonald, buried in Wood-Verner Cemetery, Smith Co. Tx. He was one of the first citizens of Smith County, Texas and one of the earliest representatives to the Legislature; he rode horseback to Austin to participate. He was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Tyler, April 8, 1848, listed as J.G. Adrain, according to a historical sketch by R.A. Dean Church Clerk, written in 1938. This account states J. G. had grandchildren living in Ben Wheeler at that time.
