He was born July 29, 1923, in Cleveland, to the late James and Velma Carson Geren.
He was retired from M.A.R.T.A. and served in the U.S. Army on the Pacific Fleet during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Fred Geren; two brothers: Cephas Geren and Ted Geren; and one sister, Ozelle "Tootsie" Cartwright.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Lindsey; sons and daughters-in-law: Keith and Lori Geren of Danville, Ill., and Brian and Joyce Geren of Villa Rica; seven grandchildren: nine great-grandchildren: sisters and brothers-in-law: Barbara and Bob Tucker and twins: Estalene "Dude" Kaylor and Eugene "Punk" Geren and wife, Jacqueline; sisters-in-law: Cora Lee Geren and Edna Geren, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Thursday, April 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Miller Funeral Home in Tallapoosa, Ga., with the Rev. Ben Stover officiating.
