Death: Jun. 22, 1975

John, who lived for many years in the house his father built at 405 N. Montana Avenue, died in the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. Funeral services were held in the Hetz Chapel, Helena, with the Rev. James Hunter officiating. Cremation services followed at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial in Great Falls, internment at Forestvale in Helena.

John was born in Helena, Jan. 27, 1891, the son of Eugene and Kate Fiske. He attended local schools and graduated from Montana State College in 1915. He went to work for GE in Schenectady, NY. Since it was too long a trip to go back to Montana for Thanksgiving, he went to Maine with friends. There, he met their sister, Helen Hodsdon. John and Helen were married July 5, 1919 in Yarmouth, Maine.

He worked briefly for his father-in-law who ran an auto repair shop, Hodsdon's Garage. In 1920, the couple moved to Montana where John was employed as a substation operator for the Milwaukee Railroad. They lived for many years in Eustis. They also lived in Francis and Piedmont. Eustis, Francis, and Piedmont were locations of Milwaukee Railroad substations. They moved to Helena in 1953 and lived there until they died.

John was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 17 A.F. & A.M. of Whitehall, Jefferson Chapter No. 38 of Royal Arch, Helena Council No. 1 of Royal and Select Masters, Helena Commandery No. 2 of Knight Templers, and Cmder of Eastern Star in Whitehall.

Preceding him in death was his wife on Feb. 19, 1975.

At the time of his death, survivors included three daughters, two sons, two sisters, 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
