Jerry J. Schocke, 69, Colfax, died January 1, 2004, in his home,
Mr. Schocke worked 33 years as a union carpenter for Local 215 in Lafayette before retiring. He was a member of Colfax Wesleyan Church, National Rifle Association and former member and president of the Colfax Town Council.
He was born January 26, 1934, in Salem, to Gail Cleo and Beatrice Isabel Hannon Schocke. He married Janice Marlene "Sue" Brough on April 18, 1952, in Salem, and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Sid (Jackie) of Lebanon, Frank of Frankfort, Ralph (Chris) of New Ross and Ronnie (Susie) of Salem; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Patricia) Hodges of Frankfort, Tonya Smith and Lecia Bolen of Colfax; four brothers, Richard, Mick and Charles of Salem and Dave of Grand Island, Nebraska; a sister, Peggy Gibson of Frankfort; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister and one son preceded him in death.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Colfax Wesleyan Church with Rev. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Colfax.
