FRANKFORT -- David A. Crabtree, 52, died at 6:52 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009, at I.U. Simon Cancer Center, Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 2, 1956, in Frankfort, he was the son of Leonard H. Crabtree and Barbara Young Harvey. He attended Frankfort schools and was a 1974 graduate of North Montgomery High School.

Mr. Crabtree was a tool and die maker working for Emerson Appliance Controls for the past 18 years. He also worked at Federal Mogul and Bell Machine.

He was a longtime Cub Master, Pack 338, was a mentor for the Frankfort High School Vocational Program, member of the Eagles and Moose lodges and enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and classic cars.

Surviving are his mother, Barbara J. Harvey of Frankfort; two sons, Leonard J. Crabtree of Washington, D.C., and Matthew A. Crabtree of Frankfort; four brothers, Larry Crabtree and Ed Crabtree, both of Frankfort, Jerry Crabtree of Orlando, Fla., and Steve Crabtree of Wabash; his longtime companion, Joni Spears of Frankfort, and her daughters, Jessica Kressley and Britney Spears, both of Frankfort; a stepbrother, Sonny Barker of Frankfort; two stepsisters, Ginger Creasy and Sandy Evans, both of Frankfort.

Also surviving is a stepsister-in-law, Liz Barker of Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard H. Crabtree, his stepfather, Donald Harvey, and stepbrother, Joe Barker.
