Horace was the son of John and Elizabeth (Dickey) Hobbs.

Horace married (1) Hannah M. Perham 08 May 1858 in Piscataquis County ME. Horace and Hannah had 4 children and 17 grandchildren. Their children were Cora (1864-1934), Lindley (1865-1934), Jessie (1869-1939) and a unnamed male child who was born May 1870 and probably died a few months later. All of their children were born in Brownville ME.

Horace married (2) Annie E. Robinson in 1876 in ME.

Horace S. HOBBS - Residence Milo Maine: 24 years old.
Enlisted on 7/15/1861 as a Private.
On 7/15/1861 he mustered into "A" Co. Maine 6th Infantry.
He was mustered out on 8/15/1864 at Portland, Maine
Promotions: Corpl 1861; Sergt 1862; 2nd Lieut est. 6/15/1863; 1st Lieut est. 2/15/1864.
