Hon. William A. Spann -
A lawyer by profession. He was the son of, Silas H. Spann, of North Carolina, and Martha Lott, of Georgia. His sister, Mary Ann Spann, born 13 Dec 1839, in Georgia, USA; died in 1927. Williams' mother died when he was two years of age. He came to Illinois in June 1857; was admitted to the Bar at Mt. Vernon; had cases in the Supreme Court and in the United States Supreme Court at Cairo and Springfield. In 1880, he was elected representative to the State legislature; in August 1885, William A. Spann, was appointed Postmaster at Vienna, by President Cleveland; in 1906 he was elected to county judgeship.
He married Miss Narcissa A. Simpson, 24 December 1861, in Johnson County, Illinois. They had six children. His wife, Narcissa (Simpson) Spann, died 21 January 1885.
One of their son's is buried nearby. His name was William Silas "Cap" Spann. He was born 12 Oct 1882, in Vienna, Johnson, ILL., and he married Pearl O. Taylor, on 14 Jan 1939, in Benton, Scott, MO. William Silas "Cap" Spann, died 14 October 1967, in Vienna, Johnson, ILL., and his headstone lies here nearby his parents.
His second spouse was, Etta May (McConnell) Blanchfill, whom he married 8 May 1893, in Vienna, Illinois.
His third spouse, Mrs. Mary E. Goodall, of Marion, daughter of Mrs. Aikeman, married 12 October 1911.
