Estella Thomas, the daughter of Joseph Chapple and Estella Smith, was born August 24, 1926 and was reared in Houston's Greater 5th Ward community where she attended Atherton Elementary and graduated early from Phyllis Wheatley High School.
Estella died on August 30, 1954 from a gunshot wound to the face. Her funeral services were held on September 6, 1954 at Ross Mortuary, 3618 Lyons Avenue, Houston, TX. and she was interred in Oak Park Cemetery, which is Golden Gate Cemetery today, Houston, TX on September 6, 1954.
