Benjamin Franklin Boughey was born in Apr 1858 in Jefferson, Noble, Indiana To Benjamin and Mariah (Gwynn) Boughey. He was not quite 7 years old when his mother died. By 1880, Benjamin, age 21, was living with his brothers Albert and John in Solon, Leelanau, Michigan. All three were laborers in a sawmill. In Jan 1885 he was married in Traverse City, Grand Traverse, Michigan to Jessie May Gwynne, his 1st cousin - daughter of Mariah's brother Jesse. The couple lived at Solon, Leelanau, Michigan where Benjamin engaged in farming and lumbering. Four daughters were born to them there but only Sadie (b.1890) and Mabel (b. 1895) survived infancy. In 1910 the family was living in Falls City, Polk, Oregon where Benjamin was a millman in a sawmill. Daughter Erma was born in Oregon in 1904 so the Bougheys had moved from Michigan before that date. By 1920 Benjamin was the proprietor of a lumber mill in Salem, Marion, Oregon. He died there on Dec 14, 1928.
