Funeral services for Dr. Calvin A. Brown, Jr. will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 437 Mitchell St., S. W., Rev. William V. Guy, pastor, officiating. Interment, South-View Cemetery. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 9:30 a.m. The family will receive friends this evening (Tuesday) at the church from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The Omega service of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will be held at the church this evening (Tuesday) at 7:00 p.m.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Joy San Walker Brown; daughters, Dr. JoiSanne Brown Richmond (LeRome) and Dr. SannaGai Brown; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Walker Gilmore of Houston, TX. and a host of cousins and friends.

The funeral for Dr. Brown, 72, of Atlanta is at Friendship Baptist Church. He died of multiple myeloma on Thursday at Briarcliff Haven Nursing Home.
"For 21 years Calvin was a no-nonsense trustee of Morehouse. He took his fiduciary responsibilities very seriously and checked each line of the financial reports. His most enduring contribution, though, was his spearheading the establishment of the medical school at Morehouse,"
