FOLSE Nathan J. Folse, age 52, an attorney and resident of Baton Rouge, LA died on Friday, February 12th, 2010 at 12:30 pm in a tragic accident in St. James Parish, on Hwy. 70, near the Sunshine Bridge. Born in Donald-sonville, LA, Nathan graduated from St. James Parish High School, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Southern University Law Center. Nathan had a special gift. He could "walk with kings but never lost the common touch." His friendships were as diverse as his many interests that included hunting, boating, RVing, weekly visits to movie theatres, and shopping at sporting goods retailers. He had an affinity for gadgets, high tech devices, sporting equipment and big boy toys. Nathan always spoke with a cautious tongue, never saying too much but just enough to answer the question or satisfy the listener. He was a great comforter, advisor, mentor and role-model to many and will certainly be missed by all those who loved him and valued his friendship. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, LA State Bar Association, LA Association of Trial Lawyers, Beta Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Louis A. Martinet Legal Society and the Monday Night Football Club. He started his legal practice as a law clerk with Baton Rouge City Court, continuing with the Office of St. James Parish Public Defenders, Assistant City Attorney for Donaldsonville, then as an Assistant District Attorney for the 23rd Judicial District. In the last 5 years, in addition to maintaining private practices located in both Baton Rouge and Donaldsonville, LA, he was the attorney for the South Louisiana Port Commission. Although a beloved husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, great-uncle and a friend to many, his most important role and greatest accomplishment was fathering his two surviving children: Melissa Michelle and Nathan J. Folse, Jr. Nathan is also survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Joni Moret Folse; mother, Vivian H. Folse; brother, Robert K. Bowman, Sr. and wife Sue Lynn; mother-in-law, Orita P. Moret, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Oscar Folse; brother, Nathan Oscar Folse, Jr., and father-in-law, Curtis A. Moret Sr. Visiting is at St. George Catholic Church at 7808 St. George Drive, Baton Rouge, LA from 9:00 am Friday, February 19th, 2010 until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am conducted by Rev. Michael J. Schatzle and Rev. Louis Oubre. Burial in the Church Cemetery. Since the hour of death cannot be forecast, the family request that in lieu of flowers, you spend time with your love ones-- go to a movie together, get ice-cream, go out to dinner or to breakfast or have a picnic in the park and tell them that you love them every day.
