Mr. Brandmeyer was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy. He was retired from Civil Service as a cook. He served on the O'Fallon Fire Department, retiring in 1983. Oscar was an active member of the Senior Citizens Club of O'Fallon and attended St. John's United Church of Christ in Summerfield. He was a life member of VFW Post 1739. Oscar remained active following retirement, working various jobs, and enjoying his hobbies of woodworking, upholstery, and traveling with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar J. and Helen, nee Meyer, Brandmeyer; brother-in-law, George Tuerck; and daughter-in-law, Debbi Brandmeyer.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie, nee Eberhardt, Brandmeyer of O'Fallon, Ill., whom he married March 26, 1949, in Belleville, Ill.; his son, Ed (Diana) Brandmeyer of O'Fallon, Ill.; his daughter, Joyce (Gary) Kniepkamp of St. Jacob, Ill.; grandchildren, Melissa (Tim) Nehrt and their daughter, Claire of St. Louis, Mo., Ben (Sara) Lesire of O'Fallon, Ill., Andy Brandmeyer of St. Louis, Mo., Kristen Kniepkamp of St. Jacob, Ill., and Josh Lesire of O'Fallon, Ill. Also surviving are his brother, Gustave (Rita) Brandmeyer of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Bertha Tuerck of Braintree, Mass.; Olinda Jarmer of Belleville, Ill.; brother-in-law, Roger Eberhardt of O'Fallon, Ill., sister-in-law, Shirley Reid of O'Fallon, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
