J.C. was born in Crockett County, TN. Before marrying he was a logger in West Tennessee area. After marrying Jeanette Chambers, he began farming in Haywood County. Later they moved to Fayette County where he continued farming growing cotton, purple hull peas, corn and soybeans. He also raised cattle and hogs. Jeanette and he had four children. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
