Celeste was a frist generation American. Her mother, Philomena Tartagleoni married Gabriel Mongiello after he mustered out of the Italian Army shortly after WWI. They were from Naples and migrated to the US where they had three Children. Their son, Michael, an aeronautical engineer, died at his desk at Reeves Aircraft at age 32. Celeste's sister Katherine, attended NYU and graduated in nursing at CCNY. Celeste had a career on Wall Street, living in Greenwich Village as an artist, before turning her attention to nursing. She attended CCNY and graduated from Middletown State. I met her accidentally while a cadet at West Point Prep School in Newburgh, NY in 1953. Celeste was one of a kind, the greatest wife and mother folks could have. I do not know of anyone who could ever say a bad word about Celeste. Celeste lived to be 70. She died of a brain tumor. Katherine is still alive and well into her 90's. My mother-in-law "Phyllis" lived with us for almost 30 years, and made it to be 96 while my father-in-law died at age 65, the day after he retired as an electrician for Broadway Maintenance Company.
