J.T. married Elizabeth Powell on Nov. 9, 1820 in Smith Co., TN. They were the parents of Lucinda Jane (Lucy)Powell, Mary Ann (Polly)Herriman, Salena Dennis, Sabrina Tennessee Ledbetter and Laten D. Morgan Reeves who married Adidaniah Roberts.
Jeremiah fought in the War of 1812, 3rd Reg't, TN. Militia as a Pvt. from Wilson Co., TN. Oct. 25, 1814, under Capt. James Black and Col. Ralston. He was only 18. He mustered out in Nashville, Tn. in Oct. 1814. He was 6'2", black hair, blue eyes with a fair complexion. He lived in Wilson Co., TN. from 1815-1827, in Cannon Co., from 1827-1850. He applied for Bounty Land Feb. 8, 1851 and was granted a homestead. He was the leader of a wagon train that came to Madison Co., AR. in the 1850's. The train consisted of, among others, James Herriman, Matthew Dennis, James P. Powell, Laten Reeves and James Ledbetter. From then, until his death, he lived in Jackson Creek, Madison Co., AR. He is buried in the cemetery there near his daughters, Polly and Salena.
He was my husband's great great great grandfather. May he know only peace.
