Delilah, called Dee, was the d/o Bluford and Elizabeth Jane Stanturf Vanderpool. Her Vanderpool family was recognized as the first settlers of Ray Co., MO. Her father was a soldier in the Civil War and contracted consumption at that time. After his death, her mother, brother John Wesley and self, had a very hard time even existing. They tried for years to receive his pension. I don't know if they ever did.
Delilah was the wife of James Henry Hammons. They married in MO. and after a few years and two children they moved to Nuckolls Co., NE. where the last 7 of their children were born. The children were, Cordie Francis, Carrie Evelyn, John Wesley, Mary Etta, Pearly Pete, James Lee, William Homer, George Virgil and Roscoe Earl.
Delilah was a very good woman that was dearly loved by her husband, children and a multitude of grandchildren.
Cause of death: Apoplexy.
She was my Great grandmother.
