Sir Percival Otway Hambro was the son of Percival Lewis Hambro and Grace Mayne.He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He married Marjorie Henrietta Bingham, daughter of Brigadier-General Edmund George Henry Bingham, on 2 August 1911. He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901-his half-brother, Norman Joachim Hambro was killed in action there, and in the First World War. He gained the rank of Colonel in the 15th Hussars. He was decorated with the Order of Avis of Portugal, the Order of St. Vladimir of Russia,and the Croix de Guerre. He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918, and decorated with the award of Order of Agricultural Merit of France. He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1919. He fought in the Mesopotamia Campaign between 1920 and 1921. He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1921. He gained the rank of Major-General in 1925 and retired from the military in 1931.He died at age 60.
