A Senator of the Kingdom of Italy who attended the Military School of Turin where attained the rank of Lieutenant, his swift ascent in the Royal Italian Army made him commander of the Eritrean troops in the East African Campaign from 1896 through 1897. In 1900, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Eighth Army of the Royal Army and participated in the Italo-Turkish War (1911 to 1912). He took part in World War I, and during the war was awarded with the title of Grand Officer of Military Order of Savoy. General Giraldi and his troops advanced on the city of Trent in November of 1918 and remained until December 1919, where he was the Civil and Military Governor of the Tridentine Venice. That same year he was appointed senator for life by King Vittorio Emanuele III of Italy, and in 1926 honored with the rank of Marshal of Italy. Giraldi requested that he be laid to rest at the Pasubio's Ossuary with his soldiers who fell during the bloody battles of First World War. (bio by: Ruggero)
