Thomas was the son of Burton and Margaret Rudder Brumagen and the husband of Nancy Devary Brumagen. He supported his large family by working as a farmer and as a farm manager. After Mrs. Brumagen passed away, in 1916, Mr. Brumagen moved from Clark County to Estill County. Following his retirement from farming, he accepted an invitation to live in the home of his daughter in Middletown, Ohio.

Thomas M. Brumagen, 63, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Homer Smith, 1716 Winona Drive, Middletown. He was the father of ten children, one of whom is Mrs. Catherine Fultz of Hamilton.
