Christina Hunt Sanders Marshall was a resident of the Tacoma area for 60 years. She graduated from Natoma High School in KS in 1923. Achieving a teaching certificate, she taught all eight grades in a one-room school for one year before marrying Arden Sanders, the father of her four children. Their 48-year marriage ended when he died in 1974. She found love again with Archie Marshall and was married to him for 15 years until his death in 1994. Christina and Archie enjoyed traveling, especially cruising.
For over 60 years, Christina was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, financial secretary and on several committees. She was a 50-year member of the White Clover Chapter of the Eastern Star and is a past Worthy Matron.
Christina was a federal employee for over 25 years, serving at Mt. Rainier Ordnance Depot, Fort Lewis and the Internal Revenue Service. She retired in 1973. Happiest when surrounded by her extended family, she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and baking cookies for the golfers at the Highlands Golf Course, who affectionately referred to her as the Cookie Lady.
She was a remarkable woman who lived a wonderful life, leaving behind children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews who loved her greatly and will miss her presence in their lives.
