Cota, was killed in action in the North African area, according to the War Department release which lists a total of 179 soldiers killed in action in various theaters of operation.
Ogdensburg Journal - Tuesday March 14, 1949 Morley - Funeral services for Private Leland Cota who was killed in action May 6, 1943, were held at the E. E. O'Leary Home Sunday with Rev. A. J. Coffey pastor of the Canton Baptist Church officiating. The body arrived Saturday morning from New York City accompanied by Sgt Hobbs of Brooklyn.
Full military services were held at the O'Leary Home and at the Morley cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Violet Armstrong Cota, his parents, Mr and Mrs. Alfred Cota of Russell and several brothers and sisters. Note: New York PVT Co I 18 Infantry World War II PH | | | Burial:
