Delores Ross Cardwell departed this life on July 4, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1932 to the late Charles Ross and Julia Ward Ross. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy R. Eaton, Mrs. Marie R. Howard and Mrs. Lillian R. Trayham.
Delores is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Julia R. McDuffie of Bridgeport, CT and Mrs. Ruby R. Pennix and two extended family members that were like sisters, Mrs. LuVenia H. Bowman and Mrs. Ernestine French all of Lynchburg; one brother, Mr. Charles Ross Jr. of Bridgeport, CT; a dedicated brother-in-law, John Trayham, Sr.; two devoted nieces, Mrs. Dorothy Bradley (Tommas) and Latonia Ayala (Darryl); a nephew, John Trayham, Jr. and his friend Melinda; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express special gratitude to the caretakers at Virginia Baptist Hospice and her devoted friends, Sandra Palmer, Ted Andrews, Faye Wright and Deacon Keith Sandidge.
A funeral service will be conducted 2pm, Friday, July 8, 2011 at Fifth Street Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph D. Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends and the cortege will assemble at 1600 Bedford Ave. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected] Community Funeral Home directing.
