Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Private in Company D, 8th Missouri Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Vicksburg, Mississippi on May 22, 1863. His citation reads simply "Gallantry in the charge of the "volunteer storming party." His Medal was awarded to him on July 30, 1894.
