William G. "Bill" Brokaw, 80, of Delaware, died early Sunday (Feb. 26, 2006) at Grady Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 11, 1926 in Delaware to Paul H. and Mary (Christian) Brokaw. He'd been a lifelong Delaware resident and retired from RANCO Inc. as foreman of the stock room. He served in World War II in the Army and was a squad leader in the 19th Infantry Regiment and the 24th Infantry Division in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He's been a member of the Eastside Mission since 1950, holding many church offices. He enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia; son, Michael (Jill) of Cardington; daughter, Tammy Brokaw of Delaware; four grandchildren, Dawn Brokaw, Bobby Woods, Beth (Scott) Scribner and Brandon (Amanda Evans) Brokaw; five great-grandchildren, Robert Woods III, Dante Crumb and Josh, Briana, and Makayla Woods; two brothers, Paul of Delaware and Sam (Beverly) of Canal Winchester; and two sisters, Eula (Harold) Swint of Cardington and Molly Wilson of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willa Tenner and Mary Wells; and a brother, John. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Eastside Mission, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Donnie Akers officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Eastside Mission Building Fund, 32 Joy Ave., Delaware, OH 43015. Interment with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association will be at Fairview Memorial Park. The family was assisted by Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St.
