Everard "Skip" Alden was the son of Everard Freeman and Ida Mary (Spencer) Alden. In 1908 he homesteaded near Faith, South Dakota, on the Moreau River. He went into the freighting business, but after the arrival of the train to the area, he worked in the Central Lumber Yard in Faith.
On 24 October 1911 Skip married Signy Steffenson in Millard, Faulk, South Dakota. Their children were Marian Gertrude, Bonnie Frances Genevieve, and Marvin John. Bonnie is listed as Frances Genevieve, Bonnie F. G, Bonnie Frances Genevieve, as well as other combinations, in official records. Skip and Signy were later divorced.
Skip married Eva Zet Cochran on 5 July 1931 in Bison, Perkins, South Dakota. They resided on a ranch on the Moreau River until 1947 when they moved to Faith and operated the Round-Up Cafe. Their children were Fay Lavern and Lee Dean.
