Civil War Service - He enlisted Sep 20 1861, Age 20. He mustered as a Private in Co A, Ohio 42nd Infantry Regiment on 25 Sep 1861 at Camp Chase, Ohio. He was wounded Jan 10 1862 during the Battle of Middle Creek, KY. He was captured May 1863 while in hospital at Champion Hills, Miss. He mustered out with the unit on Sep 20 1864 at Camp Chase, Ohio. He filed for an invalid's pension on Dec 26 1868 which was approved - Cert # 95529. His wife filed for a widow's pension on May 4 1908 which was approved - Cert # 661835
