Another of Uganda's great Senteza Kajubi has died
Former Makerere and Nkumba University VC, William Senteza Kajubi,is deadů
William Senteza Kajubi, former Vice Chancellor of Makerere and Nkumba Universities has passed away, at his home in Kampala at the age of 87.
Omusenene Kajubi is remembered for his contribution on the work of the National Anthem which was composed by the late prof George William Kakoma. He was also part of the team that worked on the national emblem.
Pro Kajubi's death comes barely amonth after the deah of Prof kakoma.
Mr. Kajubi was born in Kampala in 1926. He earned his first degree from Makerere University, before proceeding to the University of Chicago in the USA where he graduated with a M.Sc. degree with a concentration in geography.
He taught at Kings College Budo for three years after returning from the USA, before becoming a lecturer at Makerere University.
He was the Director of the National Institute of Education at Makerere University from 1964 to 1977.
In 1977 he was appointed as Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, a post he held until 1979. He became professor of higher education at Makerere University that very year.
Mr. Kajubi was appointed Principal of Kyambogo Institute of Teacher Education in 1986, serving in that capacity until 1989.
He was again appointed Vice Chancellor of Makerere University the following year, in 1990, holding the position until 1993.
He became Vice Chancellor of Nkumba University, a private university, in 1994, a position he held until 2008
Specifically: He was buried at his ancestral village of Maya, along Kampala-Masaka Road, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi), by road, southwest of Kampala, Uganda
