Robert Brewster Forrest was one of the five children of Scottish immigrants Jane and James Forrest, who came to Murray County, Minnesota in 1883. He and his wife, Catherine, had three children: Robert James, Nola Gladys, and Marjorie Katherine.
Robert was postmaster of Lake Wilson, Minnesota from 1898 to 1942.
In 1903 he bought the Lake Wilson Pilot (weekly newspaper). He retired as publisher in 1942. He was mayor of Lake Wilson and a clerk in the state legislature. He was appointed assistant commissioner of the Minnesota Game and Fish Commission in January 1929, and served until January 1931. For many years he was active in local affairs, including the Murray County Fair Board and the 4H.
Robert and his wife Catherine moved from Lake Wilson to the Minnesota Masonic Home in January, 1957.
