Carl W. Anderson, age 98, passed away August 2, 2012. He was born on January 26, 1914 in Madison, Wis. to Oliver F. and Alice I. (Milton) Anderson. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II, and retired from Babcock & Wilcox with 48 years of service. He was a member of Emanuel Church of Christ in Doylestown. A Mason for 75 years, he was Past Master of Barberton Lodge 750 F & A.M., long time Secretary and held numerous offices including Past High Priest of Portage Chapter, Past Master of Tadmor Shrine and member of Scottish Rite Valley of Akron, the Grotto, Western Reserve and received Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons Distinguished Service Award.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; brothers, Jack and Todd Anderson; sister, Ruth McCafferty; he leaves behind his daughter, Carla Leith; son-in-law, Jay Leith; and granddaughters, Isabella and Audrey of Marshfield, Mass.; sister, Jean Leuenberger of Louisville, Ohio.
Carl spent the last several years in assisted living at "The Merriman" in Akron where he made many new friendships with staff, nurses, and residents. The family extends special thanks to our friends who have assisted us through the years.
