Marshal P. Wood was born in Rindge, NH on November 19, 1837, the son of Addison and Ann (Plummer) Wood. Marshall married in October of 1861, Julia A. Hunt, the daughter of Joshua and Lucia (Todd) Hunt of Rindge. Marshall served three years in the Union Army during the Civil War. He enlisted in the 9th NH Volunteer Infantry Regiment on August 8,1862 and was mustered on August 15, 1862 as Private, he was appointed Corporal August 15, 1862. He was a member of Company I. The 9th NH served with honor in many of the major battles of the Civil War in both the Eastern and Western theatres of the war. Marshall was mustered out with his regiment on June 10, 1865. After the war Marshall and Julia resided in Ashburnham, MA. Marshall and Julia had a son, Willie M., born October 20, 1867 and died June 9, 1884. Marshall died August 12, 1912 aged 74 years.
