Revolutionary Soldier

Thomas Rugg was born May 28, 1765 in Sterling, MA, the son of Thomas and Eunice (Stickney) Rugg. Thomas moved as a boy with his parents from Sterling to Winchendon,MA, where they lived through the Revolution. He married, June 6, 1787, Elizabeth Norcross, the daughter of Lieut. Page and Elizabeth (Bailey) Norcross. Thomas and Elizabeth settled with the parents of his wife on the farm later of Nathan Woodbury. Thomas and Elizabeth had ten children. In the Revolution Thomas followed his father when he entered the army, he continued in the service through the last year of the war. He died November 8, 1846, aged 81 years.
