Revolutionary Soldier

Benjamin Peirce was born May 20, 1744 in Lexington or Lincoln, MA, the son of Jonas and Mary (Adams) Peirce. He married in Lincoln, October 7, 1771, Sarah Garfield, the daughter of John and Thankful (Stowell) Garfield of Weston, MA. They soon after settled in Rindge, NH on a farm in old school district No. 10. His wife Sarah died soon after. He married 2nd, 1773, Phebe Willard of Townsend, MA. She died about 1785 and he married 3rd, December 26, 1786, Judith Metcalf, the daughter of Lieut. George Metcalf of Rindge. He was a signatory of the "Association Test" in Rindge in 1776, he served in Col. Enoch Hale's regiment at Ticonderoga in 1776, he served in Lt. Col Stephen Peabody's regiment in 1778 and he served in Col. Moses Nichol's regiment in 1780. Benjamin Peirce had thirteen children, four by his 2nd wife and nine by his 3rd wife. He died November 12, 1825, aged 81 years.
