Revolutionary Soldier

Deacon Benjamin Kingsbury was born in Walpole, MA, October 30, 1742, the son of Benjamin and Jedidah Kingsbury. He married in Walpole, December 1, 1768, Abigail Sawin. Dea. Benjamin and Abigail had six children. In the Revolution Benjamin served from Walpole, MA, he was in Capt. Bullard's company on the Lexington alarm and seved later under Col. Wheelock during the Rhode Island expedition. They moved to Rindge, NH in 1792. Abigail died in Rindge, October 6, 1793. He married 2nd, September 3, 1794, Lucretia Locke, the daughter of Lieut. James and Hannah (Farnsworth) Locke. From 1800 to 1816 he resided in Jaffrey, NH but continued his connection with the church in Rindge. He was elected deacon of the church in Walpole previous to 1775 but was not a deacon of the church in Rindge. Late in life he studied divinity and ministered in several towns in VT and NH. He died in Rindge June 10, 1829, aged 87 years. His widow died in Temple, NH, November 6, 1843.
