Revolutionary Soldier, Bunker Hill

Asa Jones was born December 12, 1758 the eldest son of Joseph and Mary (Carter) Jones, in Lunenburg, MA. Joseph the father was born in Ireland and came to this country about 1750. Asa married in Lunenburg, November 1, 1781, Mary Martin, the daughter of John Jr and Elizabeth Martin. Asa and Mary came to Rindge, NH, in 1781. Asa and Mary had fourteen children. In the Revolution Asa was at the battle of Bunker Hill and served three years in a Massachusetts regiment. His wife died February 21, 1845, Asa died May 17, 1846, aged 87 years. On account of his service in the Revolution he was recognized at his burial with military honors.
