Nancy Ledew, 77 of Live Oak, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in the Shands at Alachua General Hospital, Gainesville, FL, after a short illness.
She was born April 9, 1929, in Pensacola to the late John Charles and Mary Adelaide Wentworth Waldron (Mr. Waldron was a hero of the Battle of Midway), and moved to Live Oak, FL in 1972 from Maryland. She was a nurse, a high school teacher, a Florida State University alumnus, a humanitarian and a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Capt. Thomas A. Ledew. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ann Ledew Forrest of Live Oak; three sons, Thomas A. Ledew of Pace, John W. Ledew of Live Oak and Christopher W. Ledew of Jacksonville; and 10 grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the Daniels Funeral Home in Live Oak with Father Richard Perko officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday, February 26, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.
