DANVILLE — Harold "Holten" Dye, 78, of Orange Hill Road, Danville, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, as the result of an automobile accident at Danville-Amity and Monroe Mills roads.
He was born April 8, 1930, in Mineral Wells, W.Va., to Harold Holten Dye Sr. and Genevieve (Fox) Dye. He married Alma (Frye) Dye on Sept. 16, 1950, who survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He retired from the Continental Can Co. He and Alma delivered newspapers for the Mount Vernon News for over 30 years. He loved to hunt and fish, as his health permitted, and loved nature and farming. He was a longtime resident of Knox County and a member of the former Kinderhook Bow Hunters Club. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Althea (Chris Fletcher) Dye of Howard; a granddaughter, Amber (Matt) Ruth of Upper Sandusky; two sisters; one brother; special friends, Charley and Linda Elkins of Apple Valley; and many other good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ken Dye; two brothers; and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to any Emergency Squad of the donor's choice.
