He was born March 24, 1957 in Roosevelt, Utah to Bennie and Evelyn Ashton Schmiett. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1975. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing. The great outdoors was his love. During high school he worked for the Utah Fish and Game. Then he worked as a court clerk and constable. Later he was self-employed in Recovery Services.
Jim is survived by his father Bennie Schmiett and sisters Linda (Terry) Allen and Leslie (Don) Smith; also by several nieces and nephews and many friends. Preceded in death by his mother Evelyn and sister Wendy (John) Mickel.
At Jim's request no services will be held and his ashes will be scattered in Fruitland. Arrangements were made by Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
