Funeral services for Johnie Ferguson, 54, of Central, Arizona were conducted Friday, September 30, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Central Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Gary White officiating. Interment followed in the Lebanon Cemetery.
John Melvin Ferguson was born March 29, 1951, in Safford, Arizona the son of John E. and Loveda Pennington Ferguson.
Johnie was raised in Central and attended Thatcher schools, graduating in 1969.
Following graduation, Johnie enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years of service.
Johnie returned to the Gila Valley and began driving trucks with Sonny Ely.
Johnie later owned and operated his own trucking business. Trucking was his life.
He married Bonnie Wood in 1983, and their daughter, Bobbie, was born.
Johnie later married Martha Crum in April 1986, and they were blessed with three more children, Kayla, Megan and John.
Johnie enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and skier.
Survivors include his wife, Martha of Central; children, Bobbie Lynn Ferguson of Thatcher, Arizona Megan Lynn Ferguson of Central and John Henry Ferguson of Central; father, John E. Ferguson of Central; mother, Loveda Ferguson; sisters, Marla Cooper of Pima, Arizona Michelle DeLaCruz of Phoenix, Arizona and Rhonda Lawson of Oklahoma; brother, Kenneth Ferguson of Central. Johnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Kayla Louise.
Friends called Friday morning at the Central LDS Chapel.
Arrangements for Johnie Ferguson were entrusted to Bunker's Caldwell Chapel.
