Birdie Mae Farris 1906-1990
Birdie Mae Farris, 84, Hillsboro, died Dec. 15, 1990 at Tuality Community Hospital of causes related to aging.
Funeral services were held this morning at Valley Full Gospel Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Dick Colson officiating.
Interment followed in Fir Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Farris was born April 24, 1906 in Grase County, Ky, one of 13 children of Thomas E. and Rebecca Foster Jackson. She was raised and educated in Kentucky.
In 1922 she married Les Zook Sr. in East Prairie, Mo. Following his death in 1935, she married Ray Farris in 1938 in East Prairie.
They moved to Hillsboro in 1963 and her husband died in 1973.
Mrs. Farris enjoyed being a homemaker and her family remembers her starching and ironing not only their clothes, but the sheets and pillowcases. She was a member of the Valley Full Gospel Church and enjoyed Christian music. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and J.R. Johnson, and Maggie and Dean Walters, all of Hillsboro and Francis and Jim Jeffries, Hammond, Ind., and three sons and daughters-in-law, Les and Shelby Zook, Cornelius and Bill and Marilyn Farris and Roy and Sherry Farris, all of Hillsboro.
Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Judy Huff, East Prairie, Mo.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Jacob Thomas Zook, Norman Zook and Fred Harris.
Bronleewe Bass Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
