MINNIE MILLS CELEBRATES 80th BIRTHDAY
The eightieth birthday anniversary of Mrs. Minnie Mills was Friday, March 7 1952 and a celebration in her honor was held Sunday, March 9 in the dining room of the First Christian church of Butler. A basket dinner was enjoyed by many relatives and friends and Mrs. Mills was honored with many lovely gifts.
She has spent the greatest part of her life in Butler having come here from Ballard when a child. She was prior to her marriage, Minnie Hayes, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hayes. This day also celebrated the birthdays of Mrs. Mills' brother, Ray Hayes and her sister, Miss Woodie Hays. Two sons, Clyde Stayton of Joplin and Harlan Mills of New York were unable to be present. Mrs. Mills was happy to receive a telephone call from Mr. and Mrs. Haven Stayton of Kansas City in the afternoon.
Those present to attend the dinner Sunday were Mrs. Mills' son, Wesley Stayton of Glenwood Springs, CO, a daughter, Mrs. Harry Jones and Mr. Jones of Kansas City and a daughter, Mrs. Eulah Mills of Butler, Mo and Mrs Roy Hayes of Ballard, Mr and Mrs Leonard Hayes of Harrisonville, Miss Woodie and Miss Bessie Hayes of Adrian, Mrs. Riley Haynes of Dayton, Mo., Mr and Mrs Chas. Ison and children, Barbara Jo and Charles of Kansas City, Mr and Mrs John Mills and sons, Freddie and David of Butler, Mr and Mrs Robert Mills and children, Alice Mae, Bobbie and Terry of Butler, Mr and Mrs Aaron Cook and children, David and Lois of Ballard, Mr and Mrs Elmer Cook of Ballard, Mr and Mrs Claude Green of Butler, Mr and Mrs Russell Green of Butler, Mrs. Lena Stayton of Butler, Mr and Mrs Floyd Stayton and children, Marlene and Sammy from near Lawrence, KS, Mr and Mrs walter McCombs, Rev. Minnie is buried between her two husbands.
