MRS. ALICE KATE ELLIOTT
Alice Kate, daughter of Elijah and America O'Bannon, was born in Lancaster Co. Kentucky, March 20, 1859 and departed this life at Aline, Oklahoma, August 12, 1953, age 94 years, four months and 22 days. She moved to Creighton, Cass county, Missouri while still a small child.
On September 14, 1879 she was united in marriage to Samuel A. Elliott. Three children were born to this union, George, Frank and Artie.
A year after the opening of the Cherokee Strip she moved with her husband and family to the farm where she resided until her death.
After her husband passed away on June 26, 1935, her son, Frank lovingly cared for her until his death on April 27, 1952. Her four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
She was baptised into the Followers of Christ church in 1913 and remained faithful and devout until her death.
Her greatest pleasure of her life was her grandchildren and giving to others.
She is survived by a son George and a daughter, Artie Shipley of Enid, a daughter-in-law, Mattie Elliott of Aline who was her constant companion the last year of her life. Other survivors include 19 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the home. Burial was in the Eastern Star cemetery with the Cordray funeral home directing."
