Mary Agnes Zintel, 89, died November 23, peacefully at home of natural causes. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Harold A. Zintel; loving mother of Joseph Carl (Rebeeca S.) and Suzanne Zintel, Nancy Louise (Sy) Ribakove, Carolyn Zintel (Robert Jonker-Fisher) and Harold Albert Zintel Jr. (Jennifer Couch); cherished grandmother of Joseph Carl Zintel Jr., Wendy Christine (David) Creamer, Zane Fisher, Pascale Louise Couch and Julian Lewis Zintel; dearest great-grandmother of Ashley and Kieley Creamer and great-great-grandmother of Natalie Rayne Creamer-Hand; devoted sister of Priscilla and the late Goerge E. Simmons and Catherine Simmons Russell.

Mary was the daughter of Hezzleton E. Simmons, who was the president of the University of Akron. She worked with her family at the Rotary camp at Rex Lake near Akron until her graduation from the University of Akron when she moved to Philadelphia to study at Drexel Institute. She became secretary for labels at E.I. Dupont Nemours until she married a young medical student, Harold Zintel, in 1939. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was an active volunteer with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, served as President of the Ridgewood New Jersey PTA and as the President of the Federated PTAs.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, December 9, at Billow Funeral Home, 85 N. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333 with burial next to her husband to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hezzleton E. Simmons Memorial Scholarships, checks payable to the University of Akron and mailed to The Department of Development, PE Martin University Center, University of Akron, Akron, OH 44325-2601 or The Salvation Army, 615 Slaters Lane, P.O.
