Russell E. Bricker, Sr., 88, of Hummelstown, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, at the home of his caregivers in Middletown.
Born in Hummelstown on October 20, 1915, he was the son of the late John H. Bricker, Jr. and Viola Nye Bricker.
He retired as the Chief Hosler from the former Reading Railroad. He was an Air Force Veteran having served in World War II. He was a founding member of the Hummelstown Field & Stream Association. He enjoyed sports especially football, baseball and NASCAR racing.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Spivey Bricker, on August 24, 1997.
He is survived by one son, Russell E. Bricker, Jr. of Hummelstown; one daughter, Mary Jo Cieri, widow of Anthony O. Cieri of Linglestown; two brothers, Harvey R. Bricker and Harry A. Bricker and his wife, Josephine Bricker, both of Hummelstown; two sisters, Dorothy R. Potteiger, widow of David Potteiger of Middletown, and Arlene E. wife of Charles T. Brunner of Hummelstown; three grandsons, Jerry E. Peacock and his wife, Tammy Peacock of Hummelstown; Mark E. Peacock and his wife, Kris Peacock of Reistertown, MD, and Ryan Lee Bricker of Middletown; five great grandchildren, Jeremie Peacock of El Paso, TX, Genevieve Peacock and Jimmy Peacock of Towson, MD and Zachary Peacock and Annalee Peacock, both of Reistertown, MD; and his caregivers, Jeffrey and Laura Maas Hoy and Violet Sceski Kocher, all of Middletown.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert E. Peacock on July 25, 1991; four brothers, Harold Bricker, Marlin S. Bricker, John H. Bricker, Jr. and Paul R. Bricker, Sr; and two sisters, Verna M. Swartz and Mary A. Holbert.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at 10 a.m., in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment with military honors will be in Grand View Memorial Park, North Annville Township. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Monday, March 15, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of the services.
