Walter Anderson Potter
A few notes about my Grand Mother's life. She married C.T Anderson when she was 16 years old on 4-4-1873 at Rowlett, Texas. In 15 years Dina had 14 children 5 girls and 9 boys. In 1908 we find her living at Olney, Texas. Somewhere around 1925 we find Dina living in Southland, Texas.
My Grand Mother was really a pioneer lady. Can you think of the work it would be move with the Anderson tribe twice in her life.
I noticed that Diana was a member of the Baptist Church for 41 years and her service was performed by a Methodist Minister. The story of this is as follows. The Baptist Church in Southland approached CT for a donation. The timing was bad. The Banks were failing, CT was worried about his funds in the small bank in Southland and removed all his money and put it in a larger bank in Slaton. The Bank in Slaton closed the next day, CT lost his operating money. He told the church he would tithe when the cotton crops were in. It seems the church was a little strong in their request; Grand Dad took exception to their attitude and never set foot in the church again. When his crop was in, he took 10% of his bailed cotton and dumped them on the front steps of the church. Even with the falling out, the year that I spent with Grand Dad, he insisted that attend that church.

Not quite the story as I was told it, but close and colorful - as I believe our grandparents were. We need to tell these stories to our children (this granmothers (Diana) great grandchildren) are born and dying and not knowing this history -|
