PEQUOT LAKES - Elmer A. Flategraff, 92, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Brainerd. Elmer was born to Anna and Englebret Flategraff on March 26, 1914, in Moose Lake Township and was the last surviving sibling of 13 children. He was united in marriage to Darlene Ost on July 2, 1955, in Pequot Lakes. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served four years in the South Pacific theater during WWII. He was a member of the Pequot American Legion Post No. 49, the Jenkins VFW and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Elmer was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement. He and Darlene also ran a dairy farm for many years. Elmer was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and nature in all forms. Most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elmer will be sadly missed by all who knew his spirit, positive outlook and love of life.
Elmer is survived by his loving and caring wife of 51 years, Darlene; six children, Debra Mullenix (Rodney), of Crosslake, Duane Flategraff (Deanna), of Victoria, Terry Flategraff (Betty), of Pequot Lakes, Becky Parker, of Nisswa, Scott Flategraff (Julie), of Pequot Lakes, Lori Flategraff, of Eagan; nine grandchildren, Kristi, Jennifer, Zachary, Dylan, Alyssa, Ryan, Jerimey, Joshua, Anna; seven stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Ian, Taylor, Elly, Afton, Kaiden; numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes with Pastor Frank Milo officiating. Burial will be at Stoney Brook Cemetery, rural Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
