Raymond "Ray" Joseph Fraser- OMAHA, Neb.
Raymond "Ray" Joseph Fraser, 82, Omaha, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006. Mr. Fraser was born Nov. 13, 1923, to Gasper and Lottie (Green) Fraser in Concordia. During the 1950s, he taught and coached at Concordia Catholic High School, Hanover High School and Lucky Catholic High School, Manhattan. In 1960, he became sales manager for Allstate Insurance Co. After retiring from Allstate, he sold real estate in Omaha and formed the Alpine Chimney Sweep Co. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus, National Chimney Sweep Guild, Chimney Safety Institute of America and Midwest Chimney Safety Council. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the South Pacific. He graduated from Kansas State College in 1950 and was recalled into the Navy for the Korean War. He also was an officer in the Kansas National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Jo Fraser; two sisters, Roberta and Sister Mary Joseph Fraser; and two brothers, Louis and Dennis Fraser.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of Omaha; two daughters, Carol Cooper and husband John of Carthage, Mo., and Janie Rickord and husband Michael of Des Moines, Iowa; three sons, Michael of Kansas City, Mo., David and wife Kim of Huxley, Iowa, and Patrick of Omaha; two sisters, Rita Galvin, his twin, of Kansas City, Kan., and Ella Thurston and husband Bryant of Jamestown, Kan.; a brother, Dr. Paul S. Fraser and wife Gail of Hillsboro, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. Burial will be in St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, with military graveside honors by American Legion Post 76 and VFW Post 588. A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. Sixth, Box 606, Concordia 66901. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 76 or to the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
