CONCORDIA — The funeral for Sister Eveline Fraser, the oldest member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia, will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at the Nazareth Motherhouse, Concordia. A Bible vigil will be at 8 pm Tuesday at the Motherhouse.
Sr. Fraser, 98, died Sunday at St. Mary's Convent, Concordia. She was born Oct. 28, 1878, in Kankakee, Ill.
She joined the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1898 and made her permanent commitment as a Sister of St. Joseph in 1901. She was a teacher in several schools during her lifetime, including 9 years at Marymount College, 14 years at Lake Linden, Mich., and 8 years in Chicago, Ill. She also taught in Clay Center, Abilene and St. George, Ill. She later spent several years at the former Home of the Little Flower in Concordia and St. Joseph's hospital, Belvidere, Ill. She moved to the Nazareth Motherhouse in 1965 and to St. Mary's Convent in 1976.
Survivors are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
